NEW Aldi Super 6 Fruit and Veg Selection
We love Aldi’s fortnightly selection of fresh fruit and veggies! They choose different items for a special offer where you can pick them up for much less than the normal price.
Here’s a rundown of the recipes we’d make with this week’s Super 6 offering.
Carrots – 41 calories per 100g
A bag of carrots never goes to waste in our kitchen – we’ll always find a tasty place to put them, from pies and soups to salads and even cakes.
There’s no such thing as a boring roast dinner with an eye-catching side of Maple-Glazed Carrots involved.
Salad Potatoes – 75 calories per 100g
While they might look similar to baby potatoes, salad potatoes are a little more dense and hold their shape nicely, even after being cooked.
Why not make a refreshing portion of our Potato Salad to pair with your lunchtime protein? Chop in some pickles for tangy bursts of freshness.
Kiwi – 16 calories per 100g
Kiwis are a juicy pick-me-up fruit packed with immune-boosting vitamins; they’re well worth having in the fridge to reach for when you need a little treat.
You can never go wrong with a mood-boosting batch of adorable Fruity Cupcakes.
Oranges – 47 calories per 100g
You can grab a bag of oranges for 89p this week from Aldi. Peel them, slice them or squeeze them to make the most of their zesty goodness – we’ll be using them to marinate the Sticky Harissa and Orange Chicken recipe on page 122 of our Budget cookbook.
Spring Onions – 32 calories per 100g
With a burst of fresh, vibrant flavour, spring onions are always handy to have in the fridge. From salads and stir-fries to a simple garnish, they add a mild punch of flavour wherever they’re sprinkled.
We shed them into parcels made from lettuce for our Mongolian Crispy Lamb recipe.
Mini Apples – 53 calories per 100g
You’ve got to love a crunchy mini apple. An easy way to give your day a sweet boost (and for only 53 calories), we love to keep them handy to snack on.
They’re also scrummy chopped into fruit salads, baked into warming sweet treats, or as a wintery porridge topper for our Apple Pie Porridge.
